Elizabeth Kate Switaj asks the statue of James Joyce in Pula, Croatia for an explanation of Finnegans Wake. Joyce does not cooperate.

Elizabeth Kate Switaj is the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at the College of the Marshall Islands. She started working at CMI in 2013 as a liberal arts instructor. She completed her PhD at Queen’s University Belfast with a dissertation on James Joyce as an EFL teacher in December 2012. A revised version of this work was published as James Joyce’s Teaching Life and Methods (Palgrave 2016). She previously taught English in Japan and China.
